We have over 50 active members and are offering 2-week free trials for beginners who would like to try out the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery alignleft has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"682\"  src=\"https:\/\/vernonjudoclub.ca\/vjc2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/VJC-PeakTeam202511-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"2025 Peak Team\" class=\"wp-image-682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vernonjudoclub.ca\/vjc2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/VJC-PeakTeam202511-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/vernonjudoclub.ca\/vjc2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/VJC-PeakTeam202511-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/vernonjudoclub.ca\/vjc2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/VJC-PeakTeam202511.jpg 759w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We had two competitors at the Burnaby Peak International event, where AJ Mizuyabu got silver in his<br>U16 division and Andrew Stevenson took bronze in U14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to Ringo En Orchards, we are doing our Bella-Vista blend apple juice fundraiser again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donna Hanson and daughter Sydney Grevatt represented BC as referees at the Quebec Open, where Sydney was certified for a higher national-level certification, including newaza randori, with Donna staying on to chair a Judo Canada meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are doing kata Wednesdays. As of a certification clinic\/testing at the beginning of November we now have two instructors certified as kata judges in 4 out of the 5 kata categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s sizing up to be a busy 8-month season, which we are planning to wrap up with our annual BC Open tournament in April 25-26, 2025 at the curling rink.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Judo is well into our 2024-25 season, with competitors, coaches and referees at the Steveston tournament November 30th weekend.
